It was reported Mumbai recorded hottest day of season yesterday. Old man who drinks a bottle water is typical Indian style, not touching the bottle with their mouth. My point here are two…. (1) color of water … (2) Trivia “Mumbaikar” means Mumbai residents in local language.
昨日はムンバイではこの夏一番の暑さだったとのことです。ところで水を飲む男性の姿、一般的なインド人の飲料水の飲み方です。唇をボトルにはつけません。それよりも・・(1) 水の色は果たして・・・(2) トリビアですが、Mumbaikar（ムンバイカー）というのは現地語（マハラシュトラ語）で「ムンバイの人」を表します。

Soon after I returned to India, I found ventilator in the kitchen is malfunctioning. Asked my driver to send workman to fix it. Workman who came 1st at checked and reported whole unit should be replaced – INR 22,000. Just in case asked another workman to come to check on 2nd day…. he fixed it at INR 1,000. This is India?
再渡航して家をチェックしていると、キッチンの換気扇の調子が悪い（動かない）ことが判明。ドライバーにお願いしてエンジニアを呼んでもらったのですが、初日の人間は「ユニット毎取替。費用は22,000ルピー」と言われました。念のため他の業者に見てもらったところ、なんと1,000ルピーで修理完了。一体どうやって直したのかは不明ながら、これがインド、ってやつですかね。
One of my favorite vegetable in India is Bhindi – lady finger. It is so cheap 1kg – INR 45.- (even organic INR 60), which is less than USD 1. In Japan it cost you USD 1.5 just for 10 pieces. Boiled and cut it to dice and ate with Japanese rice.
インドでお気に入りの野菜の1つはオクラ。現地語でビンディ、またはオクラでも通じます。1KGで70円（オーガニックで100円）と格安。日本だと10本くらいで160円くらいは軽くしますからね。茹でてサイの目に切って、ご飯にかけてたべました。うーん、美味。

最近会社でウヨウヨしているゴキ君。執務中も突然キーボードの下あたりから出現するなど、困ったものです。この国でゴキブリを避けて通ることはできないのですが、数度にわたるペストコントロールでも全く減少する気配なし。かくなる上は伝統的に新聞紙を丸めて一撃必殺。
Cockroach is walking around work desk area recently. Even daytime it comes out from under the keyboard. We cannot stay away cockroach in this country, however no sign to reduce even after several times of pest control. Then final resolution is to smash by newspaper. Hurray !
10月2日はインド建国の父ガンジー生誕150周年でした。インドのお札・高価の全てにガンジーが採用されていて、国民的な人気なのだろうと思いきや、ドライバー君に聞くと、「パキスタンの独立を招いてしまった罪は大きい。むしろそれほど好きではない、というのが本音かな」とのこと。
Oct 2 was a 150 anniversary of Gandhi Jayanti. It is natural for us to think he is a greatest father of this county, as his portrait is used for all INR notes and coin is. However in reality, according to my driver “He led a Pakistan independence. Most of Indian does ‘not liking him’”.

さて今日は早朝初、深夜戻りのデリー出張。ラウンジにて水分補給。今やラウンジが一番混み合う場所の一つですが、早朝4時台は流石に空いていました。

October started with day return to Delhi. Taking early morning flight and returning midnight. GVK lounge is now one of the most crowded space in the airport however 4ish in the morning… full of space.
