高まる緊張の中、東京やシンガポールの企画部署にせっせと情報を送っているのですが、「大丈夫か？」の一言もなく、はてさてどうしたものか。
色々と疲労が溜まったので、近くのMockingBirdというバーへ。White OwlというFlavored Beerを楽しみました。ホワイトビールはなかなかイケる。
Sending timely information to planning section of Tokyo and Singapore, however no one responding or asking us “are you safe / ok?”. I’m feeling am in lost world.

今度はパキスタンのF16がインド空軍に撃ち落とされたとのニュース。同時に昨日撃ち落とされたインド空軍のパイロットが1名捕虜となっているとのこと。
そんな折、商工会議所を通じ日印協会の平松理事長（元駐インド特命全権大使）より第四次印パ戦争瀬戸際をご経験された時の体験談を「ご参考までに」と頂戴した。私の旧友より赴任の際に頂き何度も読み返した「最後の超大国インド」P.96にある回顧録。
今回のような緊急事態には駐在する私たちの身の安全もさることながら、日本からの出張者に対してもどのようなメッセージを出すか、判断が問われる。何かあってからでは遅い。「不要不急の渡航は回避」。無用な不安を煽る必要はないが、「何か起こってから」では対応が後手にまわる。頭の中で万が一のシミュレーションを考えた。
Now another news came in. IAF shot down Pakistan F16 firefighter. But bad news is one Indian pilot whom evacuated shot plane yesterday is now in custody.
We received one episode from Mr Hirabayashi, who used be an ambassador in India. I got his book from my old friend when I left Japan, read many times. We can find this episode in page 96 of “The last super power India”.
In this emergency situation, not just a safety of ourselves, but also it is very difficult decision what we deliver visitor from Japan, i.e. come or not come. “Non essential business trip is avoided in principal”. We should avoid any serious cases. I started how we evacuate if tension escalates. Am I silly?
昨日インド空軍がテロリストの訓練施設を空爆した、というところまでは良かったのですが、その後2機のインド空軍のミグがパキスタン軍に撃ち落とされ・・とシャレにならない緊張が高まっています。
Yesterday, IAF (India Air Force) attacked the terrorist training camp. But now another news came in, that 2 MIG battle jet was shot down by Pakistan Air Force. Very serious situation, now.
会社に到着するなり飛び込んできた緊急ニュース。周りも騒然となりました。
今一度カシミール地方の場所を確認。うん、北だ。兎に角情報が命。すぐに駐在スタッフやシンガポールにメール展開。
インド人スタッフに聴くと、中旬に起きたテロへの「対応」がようやくなされた、ということで「やっと政府が動いたか」とポジティブな反応。いや、そんな状況か？

Asked team member background of this attach. It is counter “action” what was happens in 14th Feb, when Pakistan based terrorist attacked Indian border security and over 40 people were killed. Little positive “Finally Gov took an action” is a most of citizen’s comment. Hang on, is this so?

プネのゴルフ場に向かう高速道路の途中で車が異音を立てて停止。焦げ臭い匂いもし始め、「車が壊れたサー」。だろうね。
ドライバーがやや慌ててレッカー車を手配。後でわかったのですが、クラッチ板が破損したとのことでした。
先にゴルフ場に到着した先輩の車が料金所まで迎えに来てもらえることになり、さて、そこまでどのように行こうかと悩んでいると、「車を手配したサー」。やってきたクルマはTATA社製のインディカ。これはこれで初体験。
In the middle of the highway to the Pune, for the golf over the weekend, suddenly car was stopped with burned smell. “Sir, car has broken down”, yes I think so.
My driver quickly gave a call to organize the tow truck. Later I did know clutch plate has broken.
Also my driver kindly organized pick-up car to the toll gate, but how can I get to there? “Local tourist car is coming, sir”, okay… TATA mother make car “Indica” took me to there. It was my first time for TATA car.
インドで気になっていた体験の１つ、いよいよ電車の乗車体験です。
チケットブースでお金を払って、いよいよプラットフォームへ。改札はなく、チケット不所持は罰金が25000ルピーだとか。
おー、来ました来ました。ドアが開いたままの電車！ 日本の昔の電車では車掌の特権みたいな、半身を出した人がうじゃうじゃ。
土曜の昼下がりで、終点近くの駅から乗ったので中はガラガラでした。扇風機がガンガン回っていて、日本よりも横幅の広い電車は意外にも快適でした。
One of the long awaited experience in Mumbai, riding a local train!
Asked my driver to help to pay ticket at the kiosk, and finally reached to the platform. No gate for the entrance but fine is INR 25,000 if you don’t have a ticket.
Finally, comes train what everyone expected. People are hanging near by the door. Only this “hanging” is allows to conductor in Japan, many years ago.
It was only 2 stops ride to the terminal station, in Saturday afternoon, therefore not so many people were riding. So many fans in the train, and space is wider than that of Japanese local commuter.
会社の同僚らと近くのバーへ。
平日初や早い時間だとドリンクの価格が安くなるという仕組。ハッピーアワーみたいなもんですね。ワインボトルが原価近い価格で提供されていました。
最近のお気に入りのつまみは、チリガーリックビーン。チリとコリアンダーとガーリックとナッツを炒めたものですが、ビールによく合うのです。

Went out for drink with team member near the office.
This pub has unique system, price of drink varies time and how shop is crowded. Similar idea with “happy hour”. Some wine was offered with retail price.
I recently like nibbles named “chili garlic bean”. Pan fried nuts with corridors, chill and garlic. Very good with beer.
朝のドビーガート。
ドビーとはヒンディー語で洗濯人。カーストでは不可触民(現在で差別的用語にあたるため、scheduled castes/指定カースト呼びます)に分類されますが、その中でも比較的高位の職業に分類されます。
ムンバイを代表する観光地ですがなかなか踏み入れる人はいません。かくいう私も何度かマハラクシュミ駅に架かる高架橋から眺めただけ。というか、ここから眺めるのが定番です。
ちょうど9時前くらいですが、みなさん慌ただしく洗濯したり干したりと動き回っていました。
Dhobi Ghat in the morning.
Dhobi means washerman in English, categorized to schedule castes, but in this group Dhobi is high ranked occupation.
This is one of the famous sightseeing place in Mumbai but not so many people walk into the field. I’m also visited 2-3 times but never get into the place just looked down from the flyover near Mahalaxmi station.
It was around 9am in the morning, many people are busily washing or hanging clothes.

同じアパートの別の棟ですが、ご主人は不動産経営、奥様は芸術家、の様子でインテリアのセンスが素晴らしい。
カレーもとても美味しかったです。

Gentleman runs his own business and lady who is an artist. Very nice interior. Enjoyed afternoon with tasty curry and drink.
