This will be my last weekend in India for current assignment and shortly moving to another country. The place I’m visiting now is “Wildflower Hall (Oberoi)”, which is a very popular and heritage hotel in Shimla, in northern part of India.

I can guarantee, this is an one of the best hotel I ever visited, scenery, story, furnitures, atmosphere, hospitality. I cannot find any complaint at all.

Strongly recommend to stay here at least 2 nights.

約4年間のインド駐在も終わりを迎え、最後の週末をインド北部のShimlaにあるワイルドフラワーホールで過ごしています。この建物は英国がインドを統治していた際の総督の住まいとして使われたもので、建物の歴史に加え、ホスピタリティや調度品もとにかく文句のつけようのないくらい素晴らしいです。インド国内でいくつかの高級ホテルに宿泊しましたが、間違いなく「訪れるべきホテル」と言えます。デリーからフライトで1時間、そして車で4時間強ですので、2泊することをお勧めします。

交番です。街を守る警察官の執務室。外国から見たら珍しいですけどね。交番のおかげで諸外国に比べて圧倒的に低い犯罪発生率ですね。

1st day as a normal citizen, I waked down the street for short exercise. LAWSON is one of the famous convenience store (24/7 store) in Japan, whereby you can buy very famous Chicken Karaage, named “Karaage Kun’”.

一般市民としての初日、運動のため近くを散歩。ローソンは日本でも有名なコンビニエンスストアの1つですが、ここでは有名な「からあげクン」を買うことができます。

Today is last day for quarantine. I’ll be normal citizen from tomorrow onward. I proud myself as did not go fo any single step for this period. People should follow the same.

今日で自主隔離期間は終了です。明日からは一般人です。自分自身で評価できるのは、一歩も外に出なかったことです。皆さんが同じようにしてくれることを祈って。

2 Apps, out of 3 installed, are frequently used for communication with Government. This “My SOS” App is used for vide call, only we’re asked to switch on the camera to proof we’re inside of home. Interestingly this App and OEL – Overseas Entrants Locater – does not speak each other. It is very curious you’re only asked to show up but counterpart doesn’t.

3つインストールが必要なアプリのうち2つのアプリが頻繁に政府との連絡に使われます。このMy SOSというアプリはビデオ通話に使われるものですが、当方だけカメラをオンにして在宅している状況を写すよう指示されます。OELという位置情報報告アプリとは完全に独立していて、イケテいない。なんにせよ、こちら側だけカメラをオンにするように指示される気持ち悪さと言ったら・・・

If I properly receive notification to my Apple Watch I would never miss the reporting… Anyway.

もしアップルウオッチでOELの通知をタイムリーに受信できれば逃すことはないのですが・・・

When you’re discharged from the quarantine hotel in Narita, you’re also allowed not to take a shuttle bus to Airport, instead you can walk down to the car rental company and drive back to your self-quarantine place. Important notes are (1) you’re requested to come back to quarantine hotel with rental car, so that staff can register car registration number for your discharge, (2) you’re not allowed your family / chauffeur to come to quarantine hotel for direct pick up, pick up by by family or chauffeur service should be at the Airport, (3) nearest rental car company is Toyota, then Nissan. Nippon Rent-a-Car is quite distance.

政府指定の隔離施設から出発する場合に、必ずしもシャトルバスを使わなければならないということは無い運用です。徒歩で近くにあるレンタカー会社まで行き、車を借りて、自主隔離施設まで行くこともかのうです。しかしながらその場合、①レンタカーをする場合は、一旦隔離施設に戻ってナバーを登録する必要あり（シャトルバスで空港まで行ってからレンタカーする場合は除く）、②家族やハイヤーによる直接のピックアップは容認されていない、③一番近いレンタカー会社はトヨタレンタカー、次に日産レンタカー。ニッポンレンタカーは結構距離があります。

How I secure comfortable internet environment in the quarantine hotel was my concern before I moved in. I brought home Wi-FI router and plugged in to the LAN socket. This was a right option you should chose. Compare to hotel Wi-FI, (1) you can protected yourself from security concern, (2) 5GHz option for in-room Wi-FI, (3) Connect your devices up to Router’s limit, (4) faster than hotel Wi-Fi.

隔離ホテルで如何に快適なインターネット環境を実現するかが1つの心配事でした。私は家から1台メッシュルーターを持ち込んでLANに直接繋げたのですが、おそらくこれが正解。ホテルのWi-Fiに比べると①高いセキュリティを確保、②5GHzでの通信が可能、③ルーターで規定されている数だけデバイスが接続可能、④ホテルのWi-Fiよりも総じてスピードが速い。

We’re requested to install three different app for tracing our health situation and if we’re strictly following quarantine norm. There is a criticism that ppl are not responding OEL location confirmation reminder, but I came to the conclusion that this App is structurally not sensible. While you receive reminder to “notification center” and Badges to your App like Twitter in below, OEL only gives you a reminder to “notification center” and badges does not work. This means it is not easily recognizable you’re requested to launch the App in a timely manner.

私たちは帰国時に健康チェックや滞在場所を確認するために3つのアプリをインストールするように指示さます。世間ではOELアプリに適切に回答しない人が多いとの批判がありますが、私の個人的な感想としてはアプリの欠陥だと思います。一般的なアプリ、例えばツイッターですが、通常は「通知センター」と「バッジ（アプリの右肩に現れる未読件数」などが現れ、ユーザーをそれを見て「ああ、アプリに回答せねば」と思うわけです。しかしながらOELは「通知センター」にしかメッセージが飛ばず、とても使い勝手が悪い状況です。中学生でもわかるような、ユーザビリティですが・・。

Shuttle bus taking us back to the airport, it is proper tourist bus, and hotel staff is also very friendly to send us off..

空港に向かうシャトルバスです。本日「退所」。ちゃんとしたツアーバスで、ホテルの方も笑顔で見送ってくださいました。
