東京からの出張者の方とダージ系ホテル内にあるKonkan Cafeへ。こちらは海鮮のターリー。エビや白身魚のカレーになります。

Dinner with fuse from Tokyo at Oonkan Cafe in Taj Vedanta Hotel. This is a seafood curry such as fishes and prawns. Very tasty.

週末の外食はフェニックスモールにあるCafe Delhiへ。鶏肉のキーマカレーを注文。パクチーの爽やかな香りと後から来る辛さに悶絶しつつも、これはかなりお勧めです。

Eating out to the Cafe Delhi in Phoenix mall. Enjoyed Chicken Keema, flavored with coriander, and hot and spicy taste. Strongly recommend.

無ければ作ればいい。流石に皮は既製品ですが、中にチーズを入れてみたりと、ちょっとしたイベントです。

If we cannot get it, let’s make it. We made Gyoza. Unlike normal Gyoza, added cheese. It was a somewhat fun for the weekend.

インドにいるとヒンディー語を覚えなくとも英語が通じるので不便は無いのですが、流石に少しは喋れる方がいいわけで、今日は日本語的ヒンディー語のご紹介。

イラストの通り『缶ジュース』kanjoosと発音する単語があります。さて、答えは？

In India, we don’t need to learn Hindi as most of people speak English, though better if you can speak little word.

Today let me share with you, the word, pronunciation is completely same with “canned juice” ( can juice – Japanese way of speaking), in Hindi “kanjoos”, guess what?

インドはリキシャーのイメージがありますが、バイクは市民の足となっています。3人乗りは当たり前、4人家族での乗車はよく見かけます。

車やバイクが多く雑然としているのですが、意外に駐車はきっちりしていて、この通り。

You may have an image that there are full of auto rickshaws in India, but popular ride is motorbike. Three seater is normal, family ride of 4 is also popular.

On top of that, you have an image, packed road or rule less parking, but in reality….?

パトカーの色はお国柄を反映しますね。この色使いは…当然と言えば当然ですが、とても見覚えがあります。そう、イギリスです。

再びヨックモックのお話です。

インドのお土産で一番気を使うのは原材料。特にベジタリアンの方が多いため、ビスケットも卵を使っていないものを探すことになります。

インド国内で販売されているヨックモックは輸入品ですので、『卵を使用しています』と、注意書きがされていますが、最近、ピュアベジの商品を開発中とか。写真は試食用に頂いたもの。

We have to pay special attention when choosing a sweets in India, as majority might be vegetarian. We’d better to avoid if it contains egg.

Yoku Moku, sold in India, is all import from Japan, essentially it contains egg. Attached is a new Yoku Moku “pure Veg” biscuit which is under development.

インドでゼロックスはコピーを意味します。日本でいうところの『ホチキス物語』みたいな結果です。

道路脇の掘建て小屋みたいなものから、お店のような店構えのものまでありますが、コピーやソフトファイルを印刷してくれるサービスです。

日本ではコンビニプリンターがあるので需要は低いかもしれませんが、専門のおじさんが、一生懸命にやってくれます。

In India Xerox means copying machine.

From street shop to normal shop this service is very popular. You can ask for copying, printing out from digital files, or scanning.

We may not need in Japan as we have more advanced machine in convenience store (24/7 store) but it is interesting to see shop staff works hard on this service.

本日はムンバイ日本人会の新年会。役570名くらいの登録者のうち430人強の方々が参加。日本食の屋台、剣道のパフォーマンス、子供たちによるダンス、抽選会と盛りだくさん。一番の盛り上がりは、奥さまグループ、スパイスマダムス、によるボリウッドダンス。

Today I joined New Years party of the Mumbai Japanese association. We have 570 members and of which 430 members joined in this event. Japanese dishes, Kendo – traditional Japanese style fencing – performance, dance by young children and raffles. Most popular, exiting and lively event is, dance by Bollywood dance team, named “ Spice Madams”.
